LYNDONVILLE, Vermont — Trevon Butler poured in 28 points to propel the Husson Eagles to an 84-62 North Atlantic Conference men’s basketball victory over Lyndon State on Saturday afternoon.
Matavious Lockhart and Jordon Holmes each provided nine points and five rebounds for Husson University of Bangor (9-3, 7-0 NAC).
Robert Rouelle and Avery King each netted eight points to lead Lyndon State (5-5, 3-3 NAC).
On Friday night, the Eagles shot 59 percent to earn a 108-72 win over Johnson State.
Butler connected for a game-high 31 points and grabbed eight rebounds to pace Husson and Raheem Anderson came up with 19 points. Zach Curran and Alonzo McCain added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Benjamin Holl led Johnson State with 22 points, while Shakeel Irvin (8 rebounds) scored 14 and Rahim Bunch (6 assists) had 11 points.
Johnson State 90, MMA 73
At Johnson, Vermont, the Badgers racked up 51 second-half points to pull away for the North Atlantic Conference win.
Asim Khan headed Johnson State (3-12, 3-5 NAC) with 19 points, Rasul Jackson tallied 18 and Benjamin Holl contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals. Rahim Bunch (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Demetrius Slade (10 points, 11 rebounds) each posted a double-double.
Tyler Thayer scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Maine Maritime Academy of Castine (3-10, 2-5 NAC). Dylan Stevens tallied 15 points, Dylan Price scored 14 and Tyler Gilson added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Thomas 88, UMF 76
At Waterville on Saturday, the Terriers outscored the Beavers 47-34 in the second half on Saturday to earn a NAC win.
Justin Murray led a balanced offensive effort for Thomas (7-8, 3-5 NAC) with 19 points and six assists, while Levi Barnes and Mike Akanji netted 17 points. Dayne Savage added 12 points.
Logan Nichols connected for a career-high 28 points to lead the University of Maine-Farmington (1-12, 1-6 NAC). Eric Berry posted 17 points and Anfernee Dent added nine points.
Berkeley 78, UMPI 57
At New York City on Saturday, Massiah Merritt scored 19 points, handed out nine assists and made eight steals to power the Knights to victory.
Stephon Jennings manufactured a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds and Keenan Langston scored 15 points for 12-1 Berkeley College.
Chase Vicaire paced the University of Maine-Presque Isle (6-7) with 12 points and seven rebounds. Brandon McGill added 10 points.
Women’s Basketball
UMFK 79, Alfred State 49
At Alfred, New York, the UMaine-Fort Kent Bengals battled to a 53-47 lead at the end of the third quarter and then outscored Alfred 26-2 in the fourth on Sunday to improve to 14-3.
Samantha Carapellucci scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead UMFK. Romanalyn Inocencio chipped in with 15 points and seven assists while Ericka Saucier contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds. Ahjana Coleman added 12 points, six rebounds and five assists and Ifeoma Okaro had 10 points and six rebounds.
Breana Gleaton paced Alfred (2-13) with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Husson 74, Lyndon State 61
At Lyndonville, Vermont, Kenzie Worcester connected for 21 points and eight rebounds and Victoria McIntyre posted 20 points, eight rebounds and five steals as the Eagles picked up a North Atlantic Conference win on Saturday.
Joan Overman added eight points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists for first-place Husson University of Bangor (9-3, 7-0 NAC), which forced 33 turnovers and scored 29 points as a result of those miscues.
Mikayla Hodge was the catalyst for Lyndon State (3-10, 2-6 NAC) with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Aimee Thompson (5 rebounds) and Brittney LaFreniere came up with nine points each.
MMA 59, Johnson State 47
At Johnson, Vermont, Alayne Felix went 11-for-15 from the floor on the way to 28 points to spearhead the Mariners to a North Atlantic Conference win on Saturday.
Felix also came up with nine rebounds for Maine Maritime Academy of Castine (7-6, 3-3 NAC). Kristi Willey (5 rebounds) and Alex Winchester (4 assists) scored seven points each.
Amanda Bednarick had a team-high 15 points for Johnson State (6-9, 3-4 NAC).
UMF wins two
At Waterville on Saturday, Kennadi Grover logged a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to power the Beavers to a 79-42 North Atlantic Conference victory over Thomas.
On Sunday, UMF beat UMaine-Machias 78-33 in a nonconference contest.
Meghan Smith also registered a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds, for the University of Maine-Farmington (7-5, 6-1) while Kelly Pomerleau and Cheyenne Malloy chipped in with nine and eight points, respectively.
Ashleigh Gagne led Thomas (2-12, 1-7 NAC) with 14 points while Jordan Agger-Barnes (10 rebounds) and Sarah Pepin contributed eight points each.
On Sunday, Grover scored 13 points while Smith chipped in with 12 points, six rebounds and three assists to lead UMF by UMM.
Elizabeth Ferry and Jenessa Talarico each added nine points for UMF (8-5).
Alicen Brooks paced UMM (2-8) with 16 points.
Women’s Hockey
Northeastern 8, Maine 1
At Boston on Saturday, the Huskies erupted for five goals in the second period en route to the Hockey East rout of the Black Bears.
Denisa Krizova scored two of her three goals in the second period and assisted on two others to spark Northeastern (19-4-2, 14-2 HE).
Kasidy Anderson and Hayley Scamurra posted a goal and an assist each, while Shelby Herrington, Melissa Haganey and Paige Savage netted a goal apiece. Brittany Bugalski made 22 saves for the winners.
Audra Richards scored the goal for UMaine (7-15-2, 3-11-1 HE) with Victoria Hummel and Mikayla Rogers providing assists. Mariah Fujimagari made 30 saves on 33 shots and Meghann Treacy logged 26 saves against 31 shots for the Black Bears.
