LEWISTON, Maine — The city of Lewiston may join the growing list of places that ban hoverboards.
According to the Sun-Journal, Lewiston wants to ban hoverboards in city buildings.
A city clerk tells the paper they are concerned about the safety of the two-wheeled toys.
Hoverboards were one of the most popular Christmas gifts this year.
Videos of people falling off them have been flooding the Internet since the holidays.
There also are rare cases of them bursting into flames unexpectedly because of their lithium-ion batteries.
City councilors are expected to take up the issue Tuesday night.
