BANGOR, Maine — Eddington firefighters walked a local snowmobiler back to safety late Wednesday afternoon after his sled broke through the ice on a Davis Pond outlet near Rooks Road.
The sledder, whose name was not immediately available, wound up in shallow water, no deeper than his knees, fire Lt. Craig Russell said.
The man was evaluated at the scene and did not require a trip to the hospital. Personnel from the Maine Warden Service investigated the 4:30 p.m. incident, Russell said.
The man reportedly was back on dry land within about 10 minutes.
