BANGOR, Maine — The man whose body was found on Tuesday at a Durham recreational area has been identified, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Wednesday in a news release.
Allen Kelley, 43, of Durham most recently had been living at a homeless shelter in Lewiston, McCausland said.
“There is no immediate indication of foul play, but the state medical examiner’s office will conduct toxicology tests before concluding the results of the autopsy,” McCausland said.
Maine State Police detectives said a hypodermic needle was found in Kelley’s clothing, McCausland said. He added that they are still trying to determine how and when Kelley arrived at the Runaround Pond recreational area, since he had no car.
Kelley also was not dressed for sub-freezing temperatures, McCausland said.
Kelley was estranged from his wife and children, who live about five miles away from where his body was found, McCausland said.
