BANGOR, Maine — A winter storm expected to dump more than two feet of snow on mid-Atlantic states is affecting Maine airports.
Bangor International Airport and the Portland International Jetport were reporting Friday multiple cancellations out of major hubs such as Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
All of Bangor’s American Airlines departures, two to Philadelphia and one to Washington, were canceled Friday, while Portland International Jetport reported numerous cancellations to Philadelphia and the nation’s capital, along with Charlotte, North Carolina.
Airlines have canceled more than 5,000 flights for Friday and Saturday, most of them at airports in North Carolina and Washington, according to FlightAware.com. Philadelphia’s airport said it would cancel all flights scheduled for Saturday, including to and from Bangor and Portland, according to Reuters.
Both of Bangor’s scheduled departures to New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Saturday have been cancelled, along with both departures from LaGuardia to BIA. Friday afternoon’s scheduled departure to New York was running on time.
Passengers are strongly advised to check with their airlines for updates before heading to the airport.
