BANGOR, Maine — Husson University battled back from a six-point halftime deficit and outscored Castleton State 24-6 in the third quarter to earn a 72-52 women’s basketball victory in North Atlantic Conference action Friday night at Newman Gym.

Kenzie Worcester sparked Husson (10-3, 8-0 NAC) with 21 points, four assists and three rebounds. She was 9 for 9 from the line. Darla Morales chipped in with 17 points, four rebounds and three steals while Victoria McIntyre added nine points and seven rebounds. Chandler Guerrette contributed six points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Jade Desroches paced Castleton (Vermont) with 10 points and Lindsay Sabo added seven.

MMA 84, Green Mountain 36

At Castine, Maine Maritime Academy jumped out to a 22-0 lead and never looked back, improving to 8-6 overall in 5-3 in the NAC.

Maine Maritime shot an impressive 55 percent from the floor and 52.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Alayne Felix scored a game-high 14 points, while pulling down six rebounds, and dishing out two assists for MMA. Tess Clark added 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals while Mackenzie Vosburgh tallied 12 points on four 3-pointers. Kristi Willey chipped in with 11 points, three assists and two rebounds.

Torie Cowell and Sherelle Jackson led Green Mountain (Vermont) with 10 points a piece.

NEC 54, UMF 45

At Farmington, after the lead seesawed in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, New England College outscored UMaine-Farmington 15-6 in the game’s final six minutes to earn the NAC win.

Breana Ramirez paced NEC (10-6, 4-5 NAC) with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Laquil McKnight added 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Meghan Smith recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead UMF (6-6, 6-2).

Colby-Sawyer 60, Thomas 42

At Waterville, Colby-Sawyer broke a 39-39 tie at the end of the third quarter and outscored Thomas 21-3 in the fourth to earn the North Atlantic Conference victory.

Jessica Shenkel scored 18 points to lead Colby-Sawyer (10-5, 7-2 NAC) while Morgan Fogg added 10 points. Kristin Ellis contributed eight points and 15 rebounds.

Ashleigh Gagne paced Thomas (2-14, 1-8) with 15 points and eight rebounds and Katie McAllister added 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Men’s Basketball

Husson 73, Castleton 61

At Newman Gym in Bangor, Husson snapped a 31-31 halftime tie by outscoring Castleton State 42-30 in the second half to record the North Atlantic Conference victory.

Trevon Butler scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Husson (10-3, 8-0). Justin Martin chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists while Mitch Worcester and Marcel Denbow each added eight points.

Rob Coloutti scored 26 points to lead Castleton (5-10, 4-4) and Tondi Mushandu added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Conn. College 73, Bates 72

At New London, Connecticut, Bates took a five-point lead at halftime, but Connecticut College outscored the Bobcats of Lewiston 50-34 in the second half to earn the win.

David Labossiere paced Conn. College (12-5, 3-2 NESCAC) with 23 points and Tyler Rowe added 19.

Mike Boornazian paced Bates (9-8, 2-3) with 15 points, Shawn Strickland and Josh Britten each put in 12 and Marcus Delpeche had 10. Strickland also had seven assists and Delpeche had eight rebounds.
