WESTBROOK, Maine — Two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Tom and Jerry’s car wash earlier this week, according to police.

Jamie Earl Brown, 38, and Russell Ware, 41, are both accused of robbery, criminal restraint and theft of a firearm, according to a Westbrook police statement.

A tip from a citizen was helpful in leading police to the two men, and Portland police and the Maine Violent Offenders Task Force assisted, the statement said.

Investigators believe that the crime was random, as there is no link between the robbers and the victims, the statement said.

The men had fled with cash after binding the owner and his wife.

Brown and Ware are being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
