BANGOR, Maine — A Winthrop man pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court to charges of possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of an unregistered sawed-off shotgun, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Chad Goucher, 38, will be sentenced at a later date.
Goucher faces up to 20 years in prison on the heroin charge and 10 years on each of the gun charges.
In addition to jail time, Goucher also could be on supervised release for the rest of his life.
Court documents indicate a search of his residence in March 2015 revealed heroin, drug paraphernalia and three firearms, including the sawed-off shotgun.
A prior felony conviction prohibited Goucher from possessing guns.
Goucher admitted to police he had intended to distribute some of the heroin found at the residence and that he knew he was prohibited from having guns.
Winthrop police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives handled the investigation.
