High winds on Monday afternoon caused numerous power outages in Piscataquis and Aroostook counties, according to Emera Maine.

More than 1,200 customers in Brownville, Lakeview Plantation, Milo, Dyer Brook, Ludlow, New Limerick, Oakfield and Smyrna Mills had service interrupted around mid-afternoon Monday, according to a company statement.

By 5:30 p.m., however, repair workers had made significant progress in getting power restored. Fewer than 130 customers were without service at that time, 75 of those in the Milo-Brownville area, according to the utility’s live outage map.

Crews were working to to restore service as quickly as possible, the company said.
