WOODLAND, Maine — A New York City man was arrested last week in connection with alleged oxycodone importation in Aroostook County, officials said.

Michael Trader, 30, of Brooklyn is facing two charges of unlawful oxycodone trafficking and one count of falsifying physical evidence, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Commander Peter Arno said.

Trader allegedly delivered several hundred oxycodone pills to the Caribou area on a monthly basis, according to Arno.

Trader was arrested by drug agents upon returning to Aroostook County from to deliver more drugs, Arno said. Trader also allegedly tried to destroy the evidence as he was being taken into custody.

Approximately 200 oxycodone tablets with a value of $6,000 were seized. Trader is being held on $25,000 bail at the Aroostook County Jail.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations assisted in the investigation.
