ROCKLAND, Maine — A judge set bail at $2,500 cash for a St. George man accused of assaulting a woman and then chasing her in his car as she left with two children.

Corey M. Rytky, 35, was arrested Saturday and charged with domestic violence assault, obstructing report of a crime, domestic violence terrorizing, criminal mischief and driving to endanger.

Rytky pleaded not guilty to each of the offenses during his initial appearance Monday afternoon in Knox County Unified Court.

Judge Susan Sparaco set bail at $2,500 cash and ordered a curfew that would require Rytky to be home between 4 p.m. and 4 a.m. He unsuccessfully had asked for a curfew of 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., pointing out that he needed the extra time to work as a lobsterman.

According to an affidavit filed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in court, officers dealt with a call from a woman who said she was in her car with two children and was concerned Rytky was still after her. When she met with the officer, she said the two had an argument at a residence in South Thomaston and that he tried to prevent her from leaving by chest bumping her and then twice throwing her telephone.

The woman said in her statement to police that she finally got out of the house and put two children into a car, but he came out and slammed a door into her leg and foot. She was able to drive away, but he allegedly caught up with her in his vehicle on Buttermilk Lane by Iron Tree Street and then cut in front of her car and blocked her. He then allegedly tried to open her door and ripped off the handle before he smashed the side mirror.

He then sped off, the woman reported to police.

A deputy went to the location and found tire marks and a part of the car as the woman had reported.

Deputies located Rytky who denied the allegations. He was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland.
