AUGUSTA, Maine — City police are investigating the passing of counterfeit $20 bills at local businesses, according to Deputy Chief Jared Mills.
Mills said police have conducted three investigations over the last three days over the phony money.
Mills did not disclose the businesses where the bills were allegedly passed.
Anybody who suspects someone is passing phony cash should make a note of the person’s appearance, vehicle they leave in and license plate number and call Augusta police at 626-2370.
