CARIBOU, Maine — While spring-like weather has dominated the state’s forecast over the last few days, forecasters are predicting a small dose of winter to move through Maine on Wednesday.

A mixture of snow and rain is predicted to wind across the state throughout the day Wednesday, with mainly rain expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Portions of northern Maine could see a little bit of accumulating snow before the precipitation turns over to rain by Wednesday afternoon.

In central and southern parts of Maine, precipitation is expected to start as sleet before changing over to rain, although accumulating snow is not out of the question over interior sections, according to the weather service.

Winds are also expected to be high along the coast.
