WALDOBORO, Maine — A Waldoboro man faces charges of gross sexual assault and kidnapping —among several other charges — after a series of domestic violence-related incidents in Waldoboro from Jan. 3 to 7.

Jonathan Tarr, 39, also faces charges of aggravated assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence assault and obstructing report of a crime, according to a Waldoboro Police Department news release.

Somerset County sheriff’s deputies arrested Tarr in Somerset County at approximately 10:30 p.m. Jan. 9 and took him to the Somerset County Jail in Madison. He later was taken to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

He made his initial appearance in court on Jan. 12, and bail was granted over the state’s objections on Jan. 25. The investigation is ongoing, according to the police department.
