Organizers of the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games are accepting nominations for the annual Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game Award.
The nomination deadline is Feb. 19.
The Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game Award honors two high school seniors who embody the spirit of the sport, exemplify sportsmanship, support and inspire their teammates and coaching staff, and show an ability to overcome obstacles and boundaries.
The award honors 2009 recipients Joshua Titus of Auburn and Patrick Thibodeau of Cumberland. Titus has overcome the challenges of autism, and Thibodeau has Down syndrome.
Coaches, parents, principals, community organizations, athletic directors and sports fans are encouraged to submit a nomination at http://vote.mainemcdonaldsbasketball.org/.
Nomination forms can be requested by calling Kevin Mitchell at 755-9470. Online nominations must be completed by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 19. The Spirit of the Game Award winners will be announced during Maine McDonald’s All-Star Weekend in Bangor scheduled for March 11-12.
The 2015 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Games will be played on March 12 at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor. The game-day program will feature competition between top players in the state’s AA/A/B and C/D boys and girls divisions.
The state’s Mr. and Miss Basketball will be honored during an awards banquet on March 11.
