BANGOR, Maine — A Bowdoinham man was sentenced Friday in U.S. district court to nearly five years in federal prison for possessing more than 50 images and 110 videos of child pornography, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Daniel J. Lajoie Jr. 46, was sentenced to 57 months in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release, according to information posted on the court system’s electronic case filing system.

He pleaded guilty to the charge in October and has been held without bail since then, according to a previously published report.

By pleading guilty, Lajoie admitted that between April 29 and June 3, 2012, he shared videos of child pornography with an undercover federal agent, according to a news release issued by the U.S. attorney’s office. A federal agent, acting in an undercover capacity, downloaded seven of those videos and traced them to a computer Lajoie used at a residence in Oakland.

He faced up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Task Force.
