SKOWHEGAN, Maine — The Skowhegan High School Indians turned in a dominating performance to capture their fourth straight Class A wrestling regional title at their high school gym Saturday.
Eight Skowhegan wrestlers won individual Class A North titles, and two more finished in the top four to advance to next Saturday’s state championship at Noble High School in North Berwick.
The Indians rolled up 243.5 points to win the title while Cony of Augusta finished second with 122. Nokomis of Newport (114.5), Camden Hills (114) and Westbrook (93) rounded out the top five of the 15 scoring teams.
Capturing individual titles for Skowhegan were Cody Craig (106 pound division), Richard Oberg (120), Samson Sirois (126), Cooper Holland (132), Luke Boster (138), Julian Sirois (152), Kameron Doucette (160) and Logan Stevens (182).
Skowhegan’s Jon Bell also earned a second-place finish in the 145-pound division while Austin Merrill finished third in 113.
Other wrestlers earning individual titles were Oxford Hills of South Paris’ Jaden David (113), Camden Hills’ Taylor Crosby (145), Mount Ararat/Brunswick’s Robert Hetherman (170), Nokomis’ Christopher Wilson (195) and Hunter Glidden (285), and Cony’s Max Storey (220).
