BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine — A Boothbay Harbor woman crashed her vehicle after allegedly fleeing from police downtown early Thursday, Feb. 4.
Ann Wilcox, 23, faces charges of eluding an officer and failure to give notice of an accident by quickest means, according to a Boothbay Harbor Police Department press release.
Boothbay Harbor Officer Tom Chryplewicz attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction near the intersection of McKown Street and Oak Street in downtown Boothbay Harbor at approximately 12:02 a.m., according to the press release.
The vehicle “sped away at high speed,” according to the press release. Chryplewicz “pursued the vehicle but lost contact.”
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted Chryplewicz in a search for the vehicle.
At 7:30 a.m., the abandoned vehicle was located on Reed Road. The vehicle had crashed into trees and a large rock, “causing extensive damage,” according to the press release.
“Officers were able to locate the operator,” Wilcox, who was unharmed, according to the press release. Boothbay Harbor Officers Larry Brown and Nick Upham charged her with eluding an officer and failure to give notice of an accident by quickest means.
