BANGOR – Etta Marie D’Agostino went to be with her savior on February 9, 2016, while surrounded by her children. She was born in Bangor, Me on 4/29/28, and lived there until she married the love of her life, Dominic D’Agostino, Sr. Etta and Dominic married on July 3, 1948, and made their home in Millinocket where they raised their six children.
Etta became a full time high school student later in life, graduating from Stearns High School in 1974. She went on to graduate from Husson College with her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Etta was extremely proud of this achievement which was an example of her love of education and learning.
While living in Millinocket, Etta was a member of many civic organizations such as the Daughters of Isabella and the VFW women’s auxiliary. She was an avid reader and loved to play beano. In her later years, Etta moved to Hudson where she was active in the local grange and other community groups. Most recently, she resided in Bangor.
Etta and her late husband were fortunate to be able to travel to visit their children and many grandchildren all over the country. One highlight of their retirement years was their trip to Italy to the Vatican where they were able to attend Mass done by the Pope.
Etta was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Dominic D’Agostino, Sr., her four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by all her children and their spouses, Dominic D’Agostino, Jr., Rosemary Pooler, Marietta D’Agostino, Douglas D’Agostino and his wife, Cristina, Gloria Green and her husband, Ronnie, Daniel D’Agostino and his wife, Kathy, ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Greenlawn Funeral Home, 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday. A memorial mass will be held 1:00 pm Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church. Friends may make donations to St. John’s, Bangor, in her memory.
