MEDWAY – Cynthia A. (Barnes) Darling, 59, died at home, February 7, 2016, surrounded by her family after a brief but devastating battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was born on June 11, 1956, in Millinocket, ME, to Gerald and Ada Barnes.
Her greatest passion was doting on and caring for her family; she was the best wife, mother and “maw” anyone could ask for.  Cindy was an avid outdoorswoman, enjoying time at camp, as well as hunting and fishing with her husband, Bill, and their lifelong friends, Tim and Nola.  For much of her life, Cindy worked in customer service throughout the community, most recently at Hannaford in Millinocket for nearly 20 years, where she greeted everyone with a friendly smile and a helping hand.
Cindy is survived by her husband, best friend and soul mate of 43 years, William “Bill” Darling of Medway; 3 loving and devoted children and their spouses, Tracy and Troy Goodrich of Holden, ME, Tammy Darling and Dan Needham of Salem, VA, and William “Will” Darling Jr. of Hancock, ME; and her 4 wonderful grandchildren, who were the center of her world, Daniel, Brianna, Jordan and Kyle. Cindy is also survived by her mother, Ada A. (Ewings) Barnes of Millinocket, ME; 9 brothers and sisters and their spouses, Judy and Corad St. Thomas, Joyce and Pete Kelly, Jonnie and Rick Johnson, Slugger and Val Barnes, Charity and Dean Levasseur, Robin and Terry Baker, Chuck Barnes, Karla and Paul Miller, and Ed and Kim Barnes, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her.  She was predeceased by her father, Gerald A. “Shorty” Barnes.
If friends wish, memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to CancerCare of Maine, Visiting Nurses of Aroostook County or Katahdin Area Support Group.  Per Cindy’s wishes, no funeral or memorial services will be held at this time. There will be a celebration of Cindy’s life at a later date.
