PRESQUE ISLE – Lucienne Madore, a resident of Presque Isle, Maine for seven decades, died February 12, 2016 at the age of 94.
Mrs. Madore was born Lucienne Quiban in Saint-Vincent-sur-Oust, France on July 8, 1921, the daughter of Louis and Marie-Louise Quiban. At the age of 24, Lucienne was working as a nanny near Paris when she met Girard Madore, a US Army soldier stationed in France. They were married on March 23, 1946 and she immigrated to the United States to a new life in northern Maine. There in Presque Isle, Lucienne and Girard Madore raised eight children.
Lucienne worked for several years in food services for the Presque Isle School District. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed flower gardening and traveling.
Lucienne was predeceased by her husband Girard in 1990, and her brothers Yves and Joseph. She is survived by her brother, Albert and her sister, Anne of France.
A true matriarch, Lucienne is survived by her eight children: Vaughn Madore and wife Frances of Presque Isle, ME, Daniel Madore and wife Nancy of Easton, ME, Ann London and husband Philip Converse of Manchester, NH, Carol Boynton and husband Bill of Concord, NH, Catherine Reid and husband Reg of Presque Isle, ME, Phillip Madore of Caribou, ME, Mark Madore and wife Vivian of Presque Isle, ME, and Michelle Pinsonneault and husband Ronald of Epsom, NH; 23 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
