WINN – Marilyn M. Pelkey, 88, passed away February 10, 2016, at Orono Commons Nursing Home, after a brief illness. She was born March 16, 1927, in Winn, the daughter of Henry and Ida (Seams) Miller.
She graduated from Mattawamkeag High School and lived in Winn her entire life. She worked at the Houston House Hotel in Mattawamkeag for several years, and a short time at Forster Manufacturing. She worked at the Winn Elementary School Hot Lunch Program for many years with her lifelong friend, Martha Alexander. She also served as selectperson for the town of Winn for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Roarks and her husband, Jim, of Bangor; a son, Edward Pelkey and his wife Rosanne, of Winn; a daughter-in-law, Beth Pelkey, of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Tim and Noemi Roarks, of El Paso, Texas, Tammy Kimball, of Chester, Traci Gauthier, of Lincoln, Teresa Whitney, of Lincoln, Jill and Phil Desmarais, of Winn, and Joey and Anne Pelkey, of New Gloucester; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, William J. Pelkey, Jr.; daughter, Mary L. Twist and her husband, David; son Stephen M. Pelkey; her brother, Henry “Buck” Miller and his wife, Josefine; sister, Shirley Worcester and her husband Carroll.
