CARMEL – Rodney L. McLaughlin passed away on February 10, 2016 at home with his wife by his side and during the third quarter of his beloved Celtics basketball game. He was born April 12, 1936 in Eaton, Maine the son of Dorothy McLaughlin and Vaughn Foss.
Rod was a precision welder by trade and worked construction jobs all over New England, but he was a houndsman by choice. From the age of 9 until he could no longer walk through the woods, Rod dedicated his life to raising and training Beagles. His Katahdin Kennel was known internationally and he was proud of his accomplishments raising hounds to enhance both the hunting, and Field Trial dog.
Rod is survived by his wife (Elinor) Jean (Dicker) McLaughlin of Carmel and her family, cousins and a niece, friends and fellow houndsmen. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Wayne; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
As per his instructions, there will be a private memorial service held at a later date.
