AUGUSTA, Maine — A Tuesday weather forecast of snow and rain has forced the Maine Principals’ Association to postpone two tourney basketball games at the Augusta Civic Center as well as Class A state ski championships at Mount Abram in Greenwood.
Tuesday’s first two games for the Class D South girls quarterfinals, Temple Academy vs. Highview Christian Academy and Rangeley vs. Greater Portland Christian, have been postponed to 8:30 and 10 a.m. Wednesday, respectively.
The start times of two Class C South quarterfinals on Tuesday, Madison vs. Traip Academy of Kittery and Richmond vs. Searsport, have been moved to 1 and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
The Class AA semifinals will still start at 4 p.m., and the boys semis will begin at 8 p.m.
Moving two games to Wednesday morning also changed times for the rest of the games scheduled for that day in Augusta.
The new times are: Class D North boys — Seacoast Christian vs Islesboro, 11:30 a.m.; Greenville vs. Valley, 1 p.m.; Class A North girls — Gardiner vs. Messalonskee, 4 p.m.; Hampden vs. Lawrence, 5:30 p.m.; and Class A North boys — Medomak Valley vs. Brewer, 8 p.m.; Oceanside vs. Hampden, 9:30 p.m.
In skiing, the Class A Alpine championships at Mount Abram have been rescheduled to the following times: 10 a.m. Wednesday, giant slalom; 10 a.m. Thursday, slalom.
The Class B Alpine schedule at Black Mountain in Rumford is: 11 a.m. Wednesday, slalom; 9 a.m. Thursday, giant slalom.
The Class C Nordic classical championships at Black Mountain scheduled for Thursday will now start at 2 p.m.
The Class A and B Nordic schedules remain as scheduled Thursday and Friday with Class A at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington and Class B at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley.
