Former Bangor High School coach Billy Shannon has been named the head men’s soccer coach at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine.
“I’m extremely excited to join the team at Maine Maritime Academy,” Shannon said in a news release Tuesday. “I look forward to working with the student-athletes and make a positive impact on the men’s soccer program.”

“Billy Shannon will be a fantastic addition to our men’s soccer program,” said Maine Maritime head women’s soccer coach Seth Brown, who chaired the search committee. “We had a great pool of candidates, and through an extensive process, Billy time and again rose to the top. Our men’s soccer players will enjoy Billy’s passion, drive and enthusiasm for soccer and education.”
Shannon is a 2010 graduate of Husson University with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. He was the captain of the soccer team at Husson and earned all-conference honors.
He will assume his role on Tuesday, March 1.
