STANDISH, Maine — A Standish man wanted on a warrant for aggravated assault was arrested Wednesday morning after leading police and dogs on a mile-long foot chase through the woods.
Jacorey Vincent Monterio, 22, remained at Cumberland County Jail on Wednesday afternoon on charges that also include violation of probation, according to a release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies went to Monterio’s home at 45 Watchic Road at 8 a.m. to arrest Monterio on the warrants, but while they searched the residence Monterio allegedly escaped through a window.
A police dog team tracked Monterio more than a mile through the woods, across Pequawket Trail and into an abandoned trailer, where he surrendered without further incident, according to the release.
Monterio is being held without bail pending a court appearance Friday, according to an official at the jail.
