DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — An Abbot man arrested last week on sexual assault and other charges made his first court appearance Monday at the Piscataquis County Courthouse, according to the district attorney’s office.

Andrew Grant, 41, was charged with three counts of gross sexual assault and one count of aggravated assault, all Class B crimes, and domestic violence assault, a Class D crime.

Bail was set at $5,000 cash or $25,000 surety.

The incidents that led to the charges allegedly happened Feb. 10, according to the district attorney’s office. It was reported to the Piscataquis County sheriff’s office. The alleged victim is a 41-year-old woman.

Grant was arrested Feb. 19 and taken to the Piscataquis County Jail, where he remained Monday unable to post bail.

He is next due in court April 25.

If convicted of any of the Class B crimes, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000. He faces up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $2,000 if convicted of domestic violence assault.
