ROCKPORT, Maine — The community will begin its 125th birthday celebration this week.
The town has scheduled events Thursday, Friday and Saturday to mark the anniversary of Rockport becoming a town after it separated from Camden.
Competing blood drives are scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, with people able to donate to the American Red Cross at the Masonic Hall in Rockport and the Congregational Church in Camden.
Also Thursday, Robert Duke will serve as emcee and various municipal officials and leaders will speak 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. during a Celebrate Rockport ceremony at the Rockport Opera House. The free event will include music and cake.
