BELGRADE, Maine — A man’s body was recovered from Salmon Lake Monday morning, according to Maine Warden Service Cpl. John MacDonald.
The body is believed to be that of Derek Plange, a Belgrade man who has been missing since Jan. 9, according to MacDonald.
A witness observed what appeared to be a three-wheeled ATV under the ice on Sunday and notified the warden service, MacDonald said. A pair of boots were found frozen into the ice about 35 feet from the ATV.
A warden service dive team took to the lake Monday and recovered the body in 28 feet of water.
The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Augusta for positive identification, MacDonald said.
