CARIBOU, Maine — A low-pressure system churning its way toward Maine is expected to bring snow and rain into the area starting Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
While snow is expected to change over to rain in all areas by the end of the day Wednesday, the system is expected to create hazardous traveling conditions.
In far northern portions of the state, accumulating snow is possible, while the Bangor area could receive a couple of inches before precipitation changes from freezing rain over to rain. A quarter-inch of ice is also possible.
The same forecast is expected for southern parts of the state, where a thunderstorm could happen Thursday, the weather service reported.
Strong winds also are possible with this system.
