RANGELEY, Maine — Dive teams are taking advantage of the unusually warm weather for some training on Rangeley Lake this week.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said divers from the State Police Underwater Recovery Team, along with Connecticut State Police, are training for under-the-ice search and recovery exercises.
The teams are diving near Rangeley’s boat ramp in about 25 feet of water, and the ice thickness is only 18 inches due to the warm winter.
Other dive teams from New England are expected to join next week as the training continues.
