SOUTH THOMASTON, Maine — Two rifles were among the items reported stolen during a burglary at a home.

The burglary was reported Thursday, but the Buttermilk Lane homeowner believes the burglary occurred Sunday, when no one was home, according to Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison.

Reported stolen were two long guns with slings on them, the sheriff said. One was a .308 Browning, and the other was a .270 Browning with a Leupold scope, she said.

An undetermined amount of change also was stolen, Dennison said.

A door had been left unlocked, she said.

This is the second home burglary reported this week in South Thomaston. On Wednesday, a homeowner reported a furnace had been stolen from a Westbrook Street home that was under renovation.
