BRIDGEWATER – Mary Helen Teresa Reilly (nee Kirwin) passed away on February 4th, 2016. Her passing was painless and peaceful. Mary was born on May 28, 1923 in Brooklyn, N.Y. After graduating from Girls Commercial High School in 1940, Mary began a career in banking at First National City Bank where she remained until her marriage to John P. Reilly in 1948.
Throughout her life Mary was an avid baseball fan, spending many days and evenings at Ebbets Field
rooting for her beloved “Bums” The Brooklyn Dodgers, and later at Shea Stadium cheering for her hometown favorite NY Mets. Mary was a loving wife, mother, and a friend to many. She spent ten years as a volunteer at the West Islip, NY senior center helping the elderly and less fortunate.
Mary is survived by her son John M. Reilly and her daughter in-law Susan M. Gillespie of Bridgewater. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband John Patrick Reilly, and siblings Martin, Viola, and Francis Kirwin.
Mary’s family would like to thank Cheneta Cullins, Lynn A. Glover and Starr Cullins for the loving care and companionship they afforded Mary. A special thanks to Dr. Olugbemi, Shelby Stiles, Annette and Carrie at Mars Hills Health Center. A service will be held in the spring.
