BANGOR — The Bangor Comrades American Legion team is sponsoring 2016 Spring Training Baseball Clinics on Sundays in March at Bangor High’s Red Barry Gym; events, sponsored by Bangor East and West Side Little Leagues, include Parent and Me “Learning the Game” Clinic, ages 5-8, 10-11:15 a.m., parent or guardian participates with player in fun drills; Little League “Playing Baseball Fast” Clinic, ages 9-12, noon to 1:30 p.m., stresses fundamentals of throwing, fielding, hitting and baserunning. PRESQUE ISLE — The Northern Maine Board of Approved Baseball Umpires will hold their annual umpires clinic beginning on March 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the Library at Northern Maine Community College. SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Registration is open for the 24th annual Great Harbor Shoot-Out postseason basketball tournament, which benefits Harbor House Community Service Center in Southwest Harbor. BREWER — PGA Pro Mark Hall will teach indoor golf lessons at noon beginning Thursdays, March 17-April 7, at Brewer Auditorium, 318 Wilson St., through Brewer Parks and Recreation. MUD RUN
WATERVILLE, Maine — Registration is open for Thomas College’s second annual Dirty Dog Mud Run, which will take place on April 17 on the campus. With 5K of mud, tire flips, wall climbing, cargo net climbing, and more mud, this event should prove to be fun for all with the focus on finishing. The run starts at 9 a.m. A kids’ obstacle course will take place at 11 a.m. Registration is $15 for alumni, $5 for children and $30 for community members until Feb. 1, then it will be $40. ROAD RACING
BANGOR — The third annual Husson University Donut Run to raise money for the Husson track and field team to travel to South Carolina for its opening meet, will be held Sunday, April 10, at Newman gymnasium, Husson University. Two races will be offered: The Munchkin Mile for children 13 and under who will race 1 mile (9 a.m.) and receive Munchkins at the end, and the 2-mile Donut Run (9:30 a.m.) where racers run a mile, eat two donuts, and then run another mile. Race fee is $10. Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Race fee is $10, high school and college students registered by Friday, April 8, $15 day of the race; $15 community members if registered by April 8, $20 day of the race. ORONO — The second annual Black Bear Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K will take place on June 5, on the University of Maine campus. Starts on the Beckett track with a run through the campus, along the river and through Orono and Old Town. You will pass the Old Town Canoe Company and return to campus via a paved bike path through the woods.The course will feature cheer stations, music and lots of water stops.
