CARIBOU, Maine — Forecaster expect a low-pressure system trucking toward Maine to bring snow, freezing rain and rain into the state Tuesday night into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Precipitation will begin as snow Tuesday evening before eventually changing over to rain during the day Wednesday, according to the weather service.

But forecasters don’t expect snow accumulation as temperatures on Wednesday are expected to hit the 40s.

Forecasters also are monitoring the possibility that rivers will rise to, or just above, their bank falls, depending on how much rain falls.
