FARMINGTON, Maine — A prisoner being transported from the Androscoggin County Jail to Franklin County escaped Tuesday morning, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
The Sun Journal says the prisoner slipped out of a Franklin County transport van on Route 133 just before 10 a.m., according to police, and stole an SUV.
Police pursued the SUV to Chesterville, where the prisoner driving it crashed.
The prisoner was recaptured. Police have not released the name of the individual.
