VAN BUREN – Barbara “Babs” Cyr, 73, died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at a Caribou hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 26, 1942 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late William and Theresa (Langlais) Cyr.
Though disabled since birth, Barbara never had problems making friends with the many people she met. For many years she was a resident of Borderview Rehab & Nursing Home, Van Buren, and enjoyed the companionship of her fellow residents and staff. Babs loved to piece together jigsaw puzzles and crochet. She was a parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church and a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #49.
She is survived by: one brother, Michael W. Cyr of Florida; two nieces, Stefanie DesRocher of Connecticut and April Montgomery of Mississippi; many great nieces and nephews; and many friends at Borderview Rehab & Nursing Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Tuesday morning 9:30-10:30 at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
