TURNER, Maine — A three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 4 and Route 219 in Turner on Monday morning sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Chief Deputy William Gagne of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at 9:35 a.m., when a gray 1993 Toyota pickup driven by Matthew Brady, 32, of Lynchburg, Virginia, was traveling east on Bear Pond Road, also known as Route 219, Gagne said.

Brady, he said, failed to stop at the stop sign and overhead flashing red lights and entered the intersection, where he collided with a black 2002 Volvo four-door driven by Alexis Wyman-Labelle, 19, of Farmington.

The impact from that crash pushed the Volvo into a blue 2002 Jeep Liberty driven by Daniel Brett, 22, of Livermore, who was stopped at the stop sign on Howe’s Corner Road. The Jeep is owned by Lynne Castner, also of Livermore.

Brady was taken to Central Maine Medical Center by ambulance, Gagne said. Wyman-Labelle, who had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Turner Fire Department, was flown to CMMC by Lifeflight.

Brett was not injured and was able to drive his vehicle from the scene.

Turner Fire and Rescue was assisted at the scene by Buckfield Rescue, Gagne said.

Brady and Wyman-Labelle’s vehicles were demolished in the crash.

Brady was summoned for driving to endanger. The crash is being investigated by Androscoggin sheriff’s Deputy Craig MacMillan.
