CARY PLANTATION, Maine — A local man escaped major injury Tuesday night after losing control of his pickup and striking a tree, state police said.
Timothy McGary was traveling west on Haney Road when he lost control on an unplowed section and struck a tree, a news release from the Maine State Police read.
The vehicle caught fire shortly after striking the tree, but McGary and his passenger, whose name was not disclosed, were able to escape and walk to McGary’s nearby residence, the statement said.
The passenger was not hurt and McGary suffered minor cuts and scratches, the statement said.
The road was covered with ice and snow at the time of the crash.
