GLENBURN, Maine — Speed and alcohol are likely factors in a Sunday ATV crash that sent a Kenduskeag man to the hospital, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Ricky Rossignol, 51, was traveling south on Route 15 when he lost control upon pulling into the parking lot of Village Variety, according to Chief Deputy William Sheehan of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Neither Rossignol or the girl were wearing helmets and were both thrown from the ATV, Sheehan said.

The girl was treated at the scene while Rossignol was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center for injuries considered life-threatening. No other information on his condition was available Monday.

The crash remains under investigation and will be reviewed by the district attorney’s office.
