AUGUSTA, Maine — Augusta police are seeking a man who reportedly broke into a residence and assaulted an elderly man on Monday with what a city police official described as a “pan-style object.”

Deputy Chief Jared Mills of the Augusta Police Department said Tuesday that an Augusta man who is about 80 years old was assaulted. Although few details were being released late Tuesday afternoon, Mills did say that the elderly victim was injured in the attack, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Mills said that the suspect is described as a white male of medium build who is between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. The suspect had no facial hair and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing on it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Tori Tracy at 626-2370.
