TROY, Maine — A Dixmont man was injured Tuesday morning when his pickup truck crashed into a culvert and then a telephone pole on Burnham Road.
Raymond Hurley, 46, lost control around 11:45 a.m., and his vehicle became airborne upon hitting the culvert, Waldo County Sheriff Jeff Trafton said.
After becoming airborne, Hurley’s vehicle struck the telephone pole, causing the cab and the truck bed to split in two, Trafton said.
Unity firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free Hurley from the vehicle, and his injuries were not considered life-threatening, Trafton said.
Hurley was transported to Sebasticook Hospital for treatment. Speed is believed to be a factor.
