LAKELAND, Florida — University of Massachusetts freshman righthander Justin Lasko held the University of Maine Black Bears to four hits in eight innings to lift the Minutemen to a 10-1 baseball victory Sunday at Henley Field.

Lasko (2-0) didn’t walk a batter and struck out six as the Minutemen improved to 3-7.

It was the final game in the Black Bears’ spring trip. They are now 5-14 and have lost six of their last seven games.

The Minutemen reached Maine starter Nick Silva (1-1), also a freshman righthander, for six runs and eight hits in in 4 ⅓ innings. He walked two and struck out six.

Dylan Morris sparked the UMass offense with a double, three singles and three RBIs. Hunter Carey chipped in with a double, two singles and two RBIs and Mike Hart added two singles and an RBI in the 13-hit attack.

The Black Bears didn’t score until the top of the eighth when Patrick Coughlin’s double to center scored Colin Ridley, who led off the inning with a single.

Lou Della Fera added a double for the Black Bears while Danny Casals and Brett Chappel each added a single.

The Bears return to Orono and will open their America East campaign with a three-game series against Binghamton beginning Saturday at Mahaney Diamond.
