ROCKLAND, Maine — A real estate office will be the newest occupant of a Main Street storefront formerly occupied by a toy store.

Better Homes and Gardens, the Masiello Group will be moving into the space at 318 Main St., which had been the home of Planet Toys since October 2003. Planet Toys closed its Rockland store after Christmas.

Chris Masiello, CEO of the company, said he expects the office will open in mid to late May.

Masiello said the employees who work at the Rockland and Camden offices will move to the Main Street location when it opens. There will be about 25 people based in the new office.

The interior has been gutted, and a complete renovation is underway in the approximately 4,000-square-foot space.

Masiello said the spot was selected because of its downtown location.

“We want to be part of the business community,” Masiello said.

Better Homes and Gardens, the Masiello group, has 33 offices in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
