BANGOR, Maine — If all goes to plan, the Family Dollar store that was heavily damaged in a fire in February of last year will reopen this summer, a corporate spokeswoman said Tuesday.

The exact date of the reopening was not immediately available, Bryn Winburn, public and media relations manager for Family Dollar’s corporate office, said in an email seeking an update on the status of the State Street store.

She said that the timing for the reopening likely won’t be known until May.

The discount retail business was heavily damaged when a fire broke out there on Feb. 9, 2015. Though no injuries were reported, the fire caused the store to close.

The fire remains under investigation, according to Sgt. Tim York of the state fire marshal’s office and Sgt. Tim Cotton of the Bangor Police Department.

On Sunday, Assistant Chief Dennis Nadeau of the Bangor Fire Department said that city fire officials have not been informed of anyone being charged in connection with the fire.
