APPLETON, Maine — A member of the Five-Town Community School District board died Monday while on vacation in Spain.
CSD Superintendent Maria Libby said Tuesday that the district had been notified that morning by the Appleton town office that James McBrian had died. The Appleton school board member was in his 60s and apparently died of natural causes.
McBrian had represented his community on the school board since July 2013.
“We are saddened by this news, as Jim was a great addition to our school board, and our hearts go out to his family,” Libby said.
The seat is up for election this year. Nomination papers for municipal seats are due in the town office by April 29.
