BREWER, Maine — A search warrant executed Wednesday night led to the arrests of two men and the seizure of a significant amount of heroin, officials said.

Manuel Nunez, 21, of Bronx, New York, is facing a charge of aggravated heroin trafficking, a Class A offense, and Wesley Arnold, 34, was charged with trafficking heroin, a Class B crime, according to Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Cmdr. Peter Arno.

Drug agents and Brewer police executed the warrant on the Soucie Lane home about 7 p.m. Wednesday after an investigation spanning several months into heroin trafficking, according to Arno.

Arnold was allegedly allowing Nunez to stay at the residence for the purpose of trafficking heroin imported from out of state.

Nunez, who has an outstanding warrant out of New York for felony drug trafficking offenses, was located in a second-story bedroom with 420 bags of heroin worth an estimated $15,000 and $1,000 in alleged drug proceedings, Arno said.

“This investigation is another example of the significant impact that out of state drug traffickers are having on the state of Maine,” Arno said.

Both men were taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
