EAST MACHIAS — Downeast Salmon Federation’s fourth annual Smolt Bolt and Bloater Bash 4-mile trail race paired with a smoked alewife celebration, Saturday, May 21. Race will start at the Machias dike and follow the Downeast Sunrise Trail to the East Machias Aquatic Research Center at 13 Willow St., where whole alewives, also called bloaters, will be smoked.
