THOMASTON, Maine — A local man was arrested on charges of terrorizing and criminal threatening Monday after a 911 call about a dispute involving a gun.

The gun turned out to be an air rifle but Mont Daniello, 45, of Thomaston was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland before being released on $1,000 unsecured bail later in the night, according to Thomaston Police Chief Kevin Haj.

The incident began when the Knox County regional communications center received a 911 call, the chief said. There was no one on the line but the dispatcher could hear an argument and a woman mentioned that a man had a gun.

The call was traced to a Kossuth Street residence, where Thomaston police and members of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office converged and found a high-powered air rifle.

Haj said it was fortunate that the weapon was not a real gun and that no one was injured.

He said alcohol may have played a role in the incident.
