GORHAM, Maine — Freshman Sammi Goode struck out a season and career-high 13 batters in the first game and junior Allison Pillar crushed a pinch-hit grand slam in game two to highlight a pair of wins as the University of Southern Maine softball team swept Husson University 4-0 and 7-0 to extend its win-streak to five Wednesday.

Shelby Obert smacked an RBI double while Taylor Lux and Amber Kelly each added run-producing singles to spark USM (13-3) in the first game.

Casey Lopes and Sami Cyr each singled for Husson of Bangor (2-14).

In the second game, Kelly didn’t allow a hit to notch the five-inning win. She struck out six and didn’t walk a batter.

Obert doubled twice and drove in a run while Courtney Davis added a double and an RBI.

Baseball

St. Joseph’s 16, Husson 2

At Mahaney Diamond in Standish, Jameson Collins cranked a grand slam, Taylor Reuillard added a two-run homer and Taylor Black had a solo blast as the Monks rolled by the Eagles of Bangor.

Black finished with two hits and four RBIS for the Monks (7-9) while Collins had three hits and Jacob White drove in two runs.

Mike Wong recorded a double, two singles and an RBI to lead Husson (8-7).

Thomas 4, Bates 2

At Leahey Field in Lewiston, Derek Kane hit a two-run single to highlight a three-run seventh inning as Thomas rallied by Bates.

Nik Beeson added an RBI single in the seventh for Thomas (8-8). Kane finished with two hits and three RBIs. Isiah Fleming (2-0) picked up the win with two scoreless, one-hit innings of relief when he struck out two and didn’t walk a batter.

Brendan Fox singled twice and drove in a run for Bates (7-11).

Men’s Lacrosse

Husson 18, UMF 4

At Prescott Field in Farmington, Brandon Corbo scored four goals, including his 100th career goal, to propel the Eagles by the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers in North Atlantic Conference action.

Corbo became Husson’s third 100-goal scorer when he netted the game’s opening goal at the 10:58 mark.

Brooks Gay chipped in with three goals and an assist for the Eagles of Bangor (3-5, 3-0 NAC) and Trent Sell added three goals. Vinny Visconti contributed two goals while Jack White, Chad Merrill, Brandon Bosse and Rich Gardner each added one. Nick Zavorotny had one save and Matt Martin had four.

Travis St. Pierre scored two goals for UMF (0-6, 0-3) while Cameron McAllister and Justin Roberge each added one. Caleb Carr made 17 saves.
